March 7th is the first meeting for the 2024 Pierz Trap Team at 3:30pm in the High School Cafeteria. We will be going over everything that will be required for students looking to participate in the 2024 season. We are thrilled to kick off the year with our first meeting. Whether you're a seasoned shooter or a curious newcomer, there's a place for everyone. All that are interested in joining the team need to be present.
First and foremost, we want to give a big shout-out to our sponsors this year. Thank you so much for all your support.
Unlike other sports that tend to favor certain physical attributes, trap shooting is a great equalizer. You can have a young man who looks like a linebacker and next to him is a girl who is barely a hundred pounds. Overall, trap shooting is a mental game, not a physical one. When you have a positive attitude and bring that positivity to the line, you are going to shoot better than if you shot a bad round and dwelled on it.The Pierz High School Trap Shooting Team offers students an activity to experience the challenge of target shooting, learn firearm safety, and develop a skill that they can enjoy for the rest of their lives. This is offered for any student in grades 7-12; sixth graders will be considered for the team based on level of firearm proficiency and experience (this is decided by the coaches). The season runs from the last week of March through mid-June.As a team, we own 5 shotguns that are available for any student to use. If you are thinking about purchasing a firearm, please contact a trap team coach before you do, as they are able to provide some crucial recommendations for you.
All students must have completed an authorized firearm safety course and received their completion certificate before they can join the team. Each year the team has an opportunity to participate in the State Championship tournament held at the Alexandria Shooting Park, Alexandria, MN.
